Jon Butterworth

Jon Butterworth is a Nashville-based freelance drummer and educator. Born and raised in Cape Elizabeth, ME, Jon started playing drums at the young age of 3. He moved to Boston to attend college at Boston University and the Berklee College of Music, where he earned undergraduate degrees in Music Education and both Drum set and Classical Performance while studying with world-class teachers.

After college, Jon taught privately and at the collegiate level while playing in a variety of bands and as a session drummer around the Boston area for 6 years before moving to LA in 2014.

In LA, Jon found extensive work as a drummer and performer for touring acts, theme parks, pit bands, corporate bands, and original projects. After 4 1/2 years there, Jon was called to Nashville, TN, where he currently resides and remains a free-lance drummer and MD; playing for pop acts. artists in the Worship World, and creating Ableton backing tracks

Some of the notable artists Jon has played for include Sandra Bernhard, Brooke Wilkes, Victor Prieto, John Flanagan, Jane Kinsey, and Australian group, Lime Cordial. He has also played for over 13 different musical theater productions and has made an appearance in a wide release motion picture. Some notable venues in LA include the Colony Theater, the Dolby Theater, and the Novo, as well as Daryl’s house in NY, Fenway Partk, and the prestigious Symphony Hall in Boston, MA.
