Jazz Ride Cymbals
Jazz Ride Cymbals: Introduced in 2016 as a 22″ ride, it has a lengthy history leading up to its creation.
Starting in early 2005, Heartbeat commenced a special project with a cymbal company to recreate a specific cymbal from the 1960s. After months of trial and error, we finalized the design and had a limited number produced for us. But, as often times happens, circumstances and events brought an end to Heartbeat’s arrangement with that manufacturer.
Jump forward to 2010 and the start of Heartbeat cymbal production. Heartbeat’s Noel never forgot that cymbal collaboration, but it remained on the shelf. That changed in 2014, when the project was revived, but this time with the Heartbeat cymbalsmiths.
After two years of working with prototypes adjusting the hammering, lathing, bell size, profile and weight, Heartbeat is pleased to introduce the new Heartbeat Jazz Ride cymbal. Recreating some of the amazing jazz sounds that were established by drummers such as Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, Lenny White and others, Heartbeat takes that famous sound and gives it a “sprinkle” of Heartbeat’s modern influence.
The Heartbeat Jazz rides feature unique dark red logos and model designations. Hand crafted and hand hammered in the same way that traditional Turkish cymbals were in the 1960’s and early 70’s, this Jazz ride proves that sometimes the old way of doing things might just still have some benefits over the current mass produced products that flood the markets. Studio Splash Cymbals
Studio Splash Cymbals and the entire Studio series provide striking looks and amazing sound. The raw bell and raw stripe converts the Heartbeat Classic cymbal into the Studio series. Overtones are reduced and the tone is mellowed making this series popular for recording and for live usage. Less lathing, more raw (unlathed) areas means less resonance and wash, providing a quicker decay than the Classic series. Looking for a slightly more complex sound? Look no further than the Studio!
Available in rides, crashes, hats, splashes and Chinas, the Studio series is one of Heartbeat’s most popular. Raw Ride Cymbals
Raw Ride Cymbals and the entire Raw series provide an earthy look and dark, quiet sounds. The only lathing on these cymbals is the brightly polished bell. Overtones are greatly reduced and the decay is very quick.
Available sizes are 20″, 22″ and 24″ rides, 16″, 18″ and 20″crashes and 18″ and 20″ Chinas. Hi-hats are available in 14″, 15″, 16″, 17″ and 18″. Hats are meaty and sloshy sounding. Crashes are fast. Rides have mellow stick definition. Raw Chinas are very organic and trashy sounding. The Raw series provide traditional Turkish hand crafted sounds and looks, but is perfectly suited for today’s worship music. Minimal lathing means minimal shimmer. Also available is a 24″ Raw ride with a smaller bell.
